Mom It’s My First Day of Kindergarten! By Hyewon Yum

The Teeny Tiny Teacher Written by Stephanie Calmenson and Illustrated by Denis Roche

An unconventional read, this story helps students understand alliteration, and the phrase “teeny tiny” will be stuck in their heads for the rest of the day. The Teeny Tiny Teacher is a story about a teeny tiny school that has a teeny tiny fright. The illustrations are silly, showing the teeny tiny students using objects such as dominos for desks. It’s bound to get a laugh out of your student.

Do I Have to Go to School? By Pat Thomas

Do I Have to Go to School? Is a fantastic resource for parents and educators to help their younger students understand the transition from home to school. In passages of the book, Pat Thomas gives the adult reading a moment to pause and ask questions to help the child being read to understand and further gather information about school.

Morris Goes to School by B. Wiseman

Morris Goes to School is a silly book for elementary-aged children about a moose that goes to school. What’s fun about the book is that it shows no matter how different we are, school is for everyone - even a moose.

Which Witch? by Eva Ibbotson

A good book to get you in the mood for Fall and the spooky season coming up, Which Witch? Is an unconventional love story between a witch and a wizard. Perfect for older elementary students or middle schoolers, Which Witch? Is certain to be a perfect cozy afternoon read this autumn.

A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle

A Wrinkle in Time is a classic for a reason. This fantastical sci-fi story stars the Murry kids Meg and Charles Wallace, journeying with their friend Calvin O’Keefe to save their father from a time mishap. Perfect to get you or your student back into reading just in time for the beginning of the school year.

So go ahead, stop by to see Ms. Keough and borrow a fall-themed book!
