Principal's Welcome,

Chris Flieger, Ed.D.
Principal

Welcome to St. John School where we are proud of our long tradition of following Jesus and striving for excellence. St. John School was established in 1883 and we have been producing saints and scholars ever since.

While we are one community of learners, our school has three distinct programs. Our robust early education program for three and four year olds enables our youngest students to grow and learn in a caring environment, creating a strong foundation for future success. Students then move to our elementary grades, where we educate the whole child through a rigorous academic program and a wide array of enrichment activities. After fifth grade, students transition into the Eagle’s Nest. In our middle school, students flourish as they are prepared to enter the high school of their choice. Our graduates move on to the finest schools in the area and continue on to the best colleges this country has to offer. They then become active citizens in their communities.

At St. John School, we pride ourselves not only on our strong Catholic faith and rigorous academics, but also on our robust art, music, and foreign language programs. Students have the opportunity to participate in numerous after school activities, such as theatre, band, and sports. Technology as an instructional tool is essential at St. John School, with iPADS available to our lower grades and a one-to-one Chromebook program in our middle school.

St. John School is a diverse community of learners. Our students are enthusiastic and caring. They grow and mature academically, socially, and spiritually. Our teachers are committed to their work and view it as a vocation. They are innovative and creative. Our parents are full partners in the educational process. They are active participants in our community. Everyone here is enthusiastically dedicated to sustaining our school’s mission. We respect and celebrate the unique qualities of all our community members.

At St. John School, we seek to instill in our students the value of putting others’ needs before their own. In the words of Marian Wright Edelman, we produce students who care and are willing to serve. Our students experience great love at St. John School and it is great love we expect them to give to others throughout their lives.

One of the most significant decisions that parents make is choosing the right school for their child. We realize the trust you are putting in a school when you release your child into our loving embrace. Here in Canton, we welcome you to visit and experience the excellence of St. John School.

- Chris
